At Lily’s Flowers, we believe that a final tribute should be as beautiful as the life it celebrates—and as kind as possible to the earth we leave behind. While we continue to offer our classic range of funeral flowers, we are incredibly proud to officially launch our Eco Farewell Collection.

This new collection is a heart-led response to the growing desire for sustainable funerals and green burials here in Lightwater and beyond. We’ve reimagined traditional tributes, stripped away the plastic, and returned to the roots of artisan floristry.

What Makes Our Eco Collection Different?

Traditional funeral flowers often rely on green plastic foam (floral foam) which, unfortunately, breaks down into microplastics and remains in the environment for centuries. In our Eco Farewell Range, we have completely eliminated foam and single-use plastics.

• Handwoven Frames: Instead of plastic trays, our hearts, crosses, and wreaths are built upon handwoven frames of willow and cornus.

• Natural Hydration: We use traditional moss-binding techniques. Fresh, damp moss is secured with garden twine to keep our seasonal British blooms hydrated naturally.

• Fully Compostable: Every element—from the wood and moss to the raffia and twine—is 100% biodegradable. These tributes are perfectly suited for natural burial grounds and woodland ceremonies.

A Living Legacy

One of our favourite pieces in the new range is the Living Eco-Wreath. Unlike cut flowers that eventually fade, this wreath is composed of rooted plants, aromatic herbs, and tiny alpine strawberries. After the service, the entire wreath can be planted in a memory garden. It transforms from a floral tribute into a living habitat, leaving behind a flourishing legacy and beautiful memories rather than waste.

• Closing the Loop: Through our partnership with COM:POST, our green waste is collected and turned into professional-grade compost for British growers, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
