Double Celebration: Lily's Flowers Crowned Wedding and Event Florist of the Year!

We have some incredibly exciting news to share, and honestly, we’re still floating on cloud nine!

As many of you know, this year marks our 20th anniversary in business here in Lightwater, Surrey. It’s been a spectacular milestone filled with reflection, celebration, and, as it turns out, some completely unexpected magic!

While we were busy marking two decades of creating stunning floral designs for our wonderful clients, our founder, Rebecca Ellis, decided to take a huge leap of faith and enter a competition—something she’d never done before.

The Road to the Top

Rebecca will be the first to admit she was nervous, but she took on the rigorous journey to enter the most prestigious award in the world of floristry: Wedding and Event Florist of the Year 2025/26!

The process was certainly demanding:

Nomination: We first had to be nominated. (An honour in itself, thank you to those that nominated us!)
Submission: We then had to make a detailed submission explaining why we deserved to be considered.
Judgement: Once accepted, we faced a panel of expert judges.
Public Vote: Finally, the decision was opened up to the public.

From hundreds of entries across the country, we were absolutely thrilled to be whittled down to the top ten in the whole of the UK and Northern Ireland!

Arriving at the BFA Industry Awards, Dressed to Impress!

Rebecca, Stevie, and Sam turned up to the awards evening dressed to impress, they may not have realised they had won at that moment, but they certainly made sure they looked a million dollars. What they didn't know was that a handful of people—the judges, some key BFA board members, and of course, presenter Morgan-Douglas Nuth (whose lips were tightly sealed and gave nothing away)—already knew the incredible outcome.

The Moment of Magic

The grand finale saw us invited to the glamorous awards dinner hosted by the BFA (British Florist Association). While sitting at our table, honestly, being among the top ten finalists in the room of almost 200 people was an incredible honour in itself, a huge win for our team.

Then came the moment of truth, the brilliant presenters, Morgan-Douglas Nuth and John Davidson, began to announce our category. When the finalists’ names were read out, the anticipation was palpable. Rebecca and the team held their breath... What seemed like an eternity, then the magic happened.

Morgan-Douglas Nuth announced the winner, and we heard those unforgettable words: "Lily's Flowers!"

It took a solid 30 seconds for the reality to sink in! The room erupted, and in a daze, Rebecca launched herself onto the stage to collect the official certificate, a stunning bouquet, and the coveted award.

Winning Wedding and Event Florist of the Year 2025/26 is more than just a beautiful trophy, it’s profound recognition.

This accolade acknowledges the years of passionate effort and countless late nights dedicated to perfecting our craft. It is recognition not only from our industry peers and the professional judges but, crucially, from the public—the very people we create our designs for.

To receive this award during our 20th anniversary year is the most incredible gift. It validates our commitment to excellence and inspires us to continue delivering exceptional, award-winning floral artistry for all your special moments for the next 20 years and beyond!

Amidst all the celebrations, it's worth shouting about another huge success this year: Lily's Flowers School!

Since we launched at the start of the year, we’ve been thrilled to welcome hundreds of eager students through our doors for our floral experience days. The response has been phenomenal.

In fact, our Christmas Wreath making classes have been so popular, we've had to extend them and add new dates just to keep up! We still have a few remaining places, so why not secure yours and join us for some festive floral fun?

We intentionally keep our class sizes small to ensure we can dedicate our time to every participant, making your experience truly special.
